Challenge Exam UAFS Credit
In courses for which no CLEP examination is available, UAFS may grant credit based on examinations administered by the department. At UAFS we call this test a Challenge Exam. Students are required to take the Challenge exam before enrolling in the course. Consult the Academic Catalog for additional information.
Each department may have a different procedure for the Challenge Exam, but this is a generalization of the procedure:
- The Challenge Exam Registration form (PDF will open in a new tab) must be approved and signed by the department you want to award your credit. For example, for welding credit, you would take the Welding Challenge exam, so you would go to the welding department for approval.
- The Challenge Exam fee of $20 per credit hour must be paid in advance of testing, and the Challenge Exam Registration form must be signed by a staff member in the Cashier’s Office at the time of payment. This fee is for the credit, but there may be additional charges for the exam. Check with the department regarding any additional costs.
- If you come to the ASC to schedule the Challenge Exam, bring a current photo ID, Challenge Exam Registration form, and a receipt to verify payment.
- You should always start with the department. Contact
the department chair of the course to determine if a Challenge
Exam is appropriate and available.
