Frequently Asked Questions

If you have not already signed up for a R.O.A.R. registration appointment, call 479-788-7400 or email to set up your appointment date and time. Your advisor will help you with the steps to access your MANE Event.  

Absolutely! Our MANE Event schedule is designed to be both informative and engaging. 

Yes. It is proven that students who attend orientation are more likely to be successful and complete their program of study. Your success is important to us! We take great pride in planning an event that will prepare you to enter your first class with confidence and provide you with the best possible opportunity for success.

The transition from high school to college can be challenging whether or not you are a recent high school graduate. The Mane Event is an opportunity to interact with representatives from the college of your major, current and new students, and to prepare to register for your classes. It is also an opportunity to learn new things about your new university. 

You do not need to pay for your classes at either event. There are established payment deadlines that you will have to meet prior to classes. Visit our Cashier's page to learn more about deadlines and our convenient payment plans.

Yes. You MUST change your password in the Portalguard Management System before your R.O.A.R. registration appointment and the MANE Event. Your username and password will be required to access your MANE Event.

Our on-campus orientation will take place at the Recreation and Wellness Center, located at 525 N. 51st St. in Fort Smith. 

No, parents are not required to attend. In the event we offer a virtual MANE Event, parents are welcome to view the orientation with you online, but there will not be a separate parent and family orientation online component. However, if you are attending an in-person MANE Event, you may register one parent or family member to attend for a $25 fee. There will be a parent and family orientation track offered during the in-person Mane Event. This means your parent or family member will begin the day with you but will participate in separate sessions for part of the day.

Taking the correct classes for your major is important to your success. Some majors have introduction classes that should be taken in the first semester. If you have decided to change your major, please contact the R.O.A.R. at 479-788-7400 or email us at If you do not call ahead, majors can be changed during your R.O.A.R. registration appointment.

During your R.O.A.R. registration appointment, which can happen before or after the MANE Event, your R.O.A.R. advisor will assist you in receiving your Lions ID. Once you have registered for classes, you may also pick up your Lions ID at the Registrar’s Office on the second floor of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.

Students will have a one-on-one R.O.A.R. registration appointment to register for classes with their assigned R.O.A.R. advisor. We recommend you sign up for your R.O.A.R. registration appointment prior to your MANE Event.

The UAFS Promise is a fixed tuition rate plan for students who stay on track to graduate within the designated timeframe for their declared major.

You can sign up for the UAFS Promise during your initial advising appointment as part of your R.O.A.R. registration appointment at the university. During this meeting, you will be informed of the requirements of the program and sign a commitment for the program.
